Merseyside Quiz Leagues

Congratulations again to Ormskirk who last Wednesday won the President's Challenge.  In an enjoyable and close competition they defeated Liverpool 2B in the semi-final before overcoming their close rivals Wirral in the final.  Ormskirk have therefore "done the double" by adding this to their recent President's Shield win.

Many congratulations to Ormskirk who have clinched the 2019-20 President's Shield.  In another close competition they won the last game to just edge ahead of Wirral by one point.  It is the first time the two teams have been able to be separated for two seasons, having shared the Shield last year!  Well done also to Ormskirk Captain, Bill Gerrard who scored a full-house in one of the final two matches.

Congratulations to those who have qualified for the Merseyside Heat of the Mimir Competition. This will be held at New Brighton CC, Rake Lane, Wallasey, CH45 5DE at 8pm on Wed 18 March 2020. The draw has been made and can be seen here.  Spectators are welcome.

Following consultation, the 2020 MQL AGM has been moved from Sunday 19 April and will now be held on Sunday 5 April.

Many congratulations to Ormskirk’s Pat Gibson for winning the Quizmaster competition screened on itv over the festive season.  In an interesting and varied contest, he fought off strong challenges from winners of major TV quizzes including University Challenge, Mastermind, 15 to 1 and The Chase.  There was a great example of ’no piece of information ever being useless’ when Pat’s knowledge of Friends and Daft Punk, gave him the edge over David Edwards in a closely contested final!
