Sad News - Ronnie Woods

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death on 6 February 2017 of Ronnie Woods, Vice President of the Merseyside QL and former Chairman and Officer of the Northern QL.  Ronnie had been a member of the MQL for many years and will be sadly missed.

Ronnie's funeral will be on Thursday 23rd February, 12 midday at Anfield Crematorium.

Then afterwards at The Cabbage Hall Hotel, Townsend Lane Anfield.

Historic Document Unearthed

Peter Deakin, currently of the Warrington League, has recently found his copy of the original 1959 agenda for the meeting, called at The Mount Hotel in 1959, which led to the setting up of the MQL.

The original, a blue-ink Banda sheet, had been found by Bill Hawkins - his father had been at the meeting.

The document and a transcription have been placed on the History Page

Norman Dugdale

It is with sadness that we have to report the death of Norman Dugdale on Monday 2nd January 2017.  Norman played in the MQL from the 1970s, enjoying success with a number of teams including Post House in the Liverpool League.  He “retired” from quizzing just two years ago having played most recently for New Brighton Cricket Club Extras.  Some may remember his style of play as having led to his being affectionately nicknamed “Nine Second Norman”.

Details of the funeral arrangements can be found on the Wirral Quiz website at http://www.wirralql.org.uk
