Merseyside Quiz Leagues

On Saturday 15 June, a team representing the MQL took part in the Don Bissett Competition at the annual Quiz League of London Open Quiz Festival. After close wins over Teeside and Yorkshire, Merseyside defeated Scotland in the Final to win the Don Bissett Trophy for the second successive year.  The team of Dag Griffiths, Jim Eccleson, Angela Doyle and Pat Gibson are pictured receiving the Trophy from QLL Chairman David Lea.

The final of the Challenge Cup was contested by Victorian Cricketers of Liverpool and Collywobblers of Ormskirk.

The MQL Plate Final was contested by Judges of Liverpool and Oxton Conservatives of Wirral.

The 2019 MIMIR Final took place at Hoylake Social Club on 15th May and featured Jim Eccleson (Wirral), Pat Gibson (Ormskirk), Karl Whelan (Wirral) and John Wilson (Ormskirk).

The 2019 Finals and Presentation Evening were held on Wed 15 May at the Hoylake Social Club.  In the final of the Merseyside Challenge Plate, Oxton Cons of Wirral defeated Judges of Liverpool.  In a very close match. the Mimir Individual Competition was won for the seventh time by Pat Gibson.  Karl Whelan, John Wilson and Jim Eccleson were runners up. In the final event of the evening, Victorian Cricketers of Liverpool defeated Colly Wobblers of Ormskirk to win the Merseyside Challenge Cup.  Many thanks to all who helped in setting questions and to the Wirral Quiz League for hosting and providing refreshments.
