To mark the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Leagues, two new annual competitions were inaugurated
Jubilee Buzzer Quiz Tournament
Initially organised with the cooperation of the Quiz League of London this was a new type of competition for the MQL. The Tournament is based upon the format used in TV’s University Challenge and was held for the first time in September 2018. Moving to October in 2019 and 2021 (no competition in 2020) the event is now operated solely by the MQL.

2019 Winners: Ormskirk Plate: Liverpool B Top player: Pat Gibson (Or)

2021 Winners: Teesside Plate: Wirral A Top player: Pat Gibson (Or)
Runners-up: A Team of Two Halves Runners-up: Lincolnshire
Jubilee Pairs Tournament
September 2019 saw the first Jubilee Pairs competition. Although a familiar format, this was the first tournament open to players across the whole of the MQL and became the second new annual event to mark the Jubilee. Unfortunately the 2020 and 2021 events both fell foul of the global pandemic.
