Merseyside Quiz Leagues

The 2026 Jubilee Pairs Competition took place on Wed 23 September 2026 at Aigburth People's Hall, Aigburth Vale, Liverpool L17 0DJ.

The format of the competition remained the same.  The 24 entrants were placed into either a higher or lower pool and a draw was made to create pairs made from a player from each pool. The First Round was a 50-question written quiz that found the top 6 pairs. In the Semi-finals those six pairs were asked questions in turn in a '15 to 1' type format. A pair had three lives and lost a life each time they answered incorrectly or failed to answer.  The questioning continued until only three teams remained. Those three teams then contested the Final played in the same way until a winning pair was found.  A Plate Final is also took place for the pairs finishing 7th, 8th and 9th in the First Round.

Many congratulations to Fay Howard (Aigburth Swans, Liverpool) and Angela Doyle (Bishop Eton, Liverpool) on becoming the 2026 Jubilee Pairs champions!  They won a tight final against Derek Moody (Bull's Head, Warrington) and Alan Thompson (Ormskirk Theatre Company, Ormskirk) and Graham Barker (Cricketers, Liverpool) and Neil Williams (El Dude Brothers, Liverpool).  The Plate was won by Charles Johnson (Turks Head Saints, Ormskirk) and Andy Lever (Cricketers, Liverpool).  Many thanks to the Liverpool Quiz League and to Aigburth Peoples Hall for hosting the event.
