GDPR Privacy Policy for Merseyside Quiz Leagues
The words “you”, “your” and “member” refer to the membership of a Team.
The phrase “contact details” refers to the name, address, telephone number of a primary contact (usually the team secretary) who represents that team.
At the Merseyside Quiz Leagues (MQL) we take your privacy very seriously and will use your contact details only to administer your membership of the leagues and to keep you informed about our activities and events.
From time to time we will contact members via email with details of the activities and events we run so that you do not miss last minute updates etc. We would encourage you to keep in regular contact with the MQL website where such information will also be posted.
We will never share, sell or otherwise disseminate your contact details to any third party. E.g. if any third party contacts the league requesting a means of contacting you, we will forward this request to you via email so that you can decide whether to establish contact or not.
As of 25th May 2018, we are obliged by law to inform you upon request of any and all contact details information we hold on you. If you would like to receive this, please contact the MQL General Secretary. However, if the request comes from an email address which we do not recognise, we will not honour it automatically – rather, we will forward the request to the email address which we hold for you and ask you to verify that the request is genuine.
Furthermore, we are required to obtain your explicit consent ('opt-in') to use your contact details information and you will have received an email from the league requesting this. We are grateful for the opportunity to keep you informed of your quiz league's activities.
What we use your data for and why
Your data is used to enable the MQL to contact you about forthcoming matches, fixtures or events and for the distribution of question sets.
Who we share your data with
The address and phone number of team venues will be published on the MQL website.
Contact details of League Officials and members will be accessible on the Website and in a Handbook only if permission has been given by those concerned.
Your Local League Secretary has contact details of teams in your area.
If you are involved in MCC, Mimir, Feeny and Rendon Competitions then your contact details are shared with the League officials who administer these competitions.

How long data is kept
For as long as you remain in the MQL. We also have an archive of handbooks that pre-date the “digital” era that contain address and telephone details going back to 1975
