This competition was first held in September 2018 as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the MQL. It was originally intended as a one off tournament but proved successful and popular so that a second was planned and took place in October 2019. It is now envisaged that it will become an annual event.
The 2018 Tournament used questions set by the Quiz League of London and took place on the same day as their event. It attracted 17 teams and after a enjoyable day's quizzing, Liverpool finished as the inaugural winners defeating Lancaster in the Final. Milton Keynes won the Plate competition.
The 2019 Tournament saw the maximum of 20 teams competing using questions now set by the MQL themselves. Ormskirk ensured that the Jubilee Trophy remained on Merseyside with Lancaster, once again, very close runners up. Liverpool B were the winners of the Plate.
Sadly, it was not possible to stage the 2020 Tournament due to Coronavirus restrictions.
The 2021 Tournament was played on Saturday 9 October. Again a full turnout of 20 teams saw the team from Teesside as winners over A Team Of Two Halves. The Wirral A side were the winners of the Plate.
The venue for the 2018 and 2019 Tournaments was the Bradbury Fields Centre for Blind and Partially Sighted People. The 2021 Tournament was held at the St Peter's Church and Centre. The 2023 and 2024 Tournaments were held at The Parade, Hoylake, Wirral.
