Online Quiz League are running their inaugural individual championships on Saturday 25th March. Around 300 players have already signed up to play at venues up and down the country. The day involves a written individual quiz featuring 200 questions across a whole manner of subjects and then two fun team quizzes in the afternoon.
This is looking like being the biggest event of its kind ever in the UK and one of the venues is the Cross Keys, a pub in Liverpool city centre. There are currently around 15 spaces left available there and it would be great to see those spaces filled with MQL players.

Congratulations to Wirral who won the 2022-23 President's Shield by the narrowest of margins. The team of Joe Davies, Pam Baker, Steve Lomas and Mike McDonough won their final two matches to put them level with the holders Ormskirk. Wirral ended with a superior match points difference to take the title. Full results here.
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to this season's competition including the team secretaries and Dag Griffiths of MQL..
The Presidential Challenge a one-off knock out competition will be held at 8pm at Aigburth Peoples Hall on Wednesday 15 March. This year it will be contested by Liverpool 2A and 2B, Ormskirk and Wirral.

Many congratulations to Sarah Trevarthen on becoming the 2022 Brain of Britain. In the very exciting Final of the BBC Radio 4 competition, Sarah came from behind to win dramatically in the last round. Her high calibre opposition included two Mastermind champions and a Mastermind runner up. Sarah herself was also a runner-up in BBC Radio 4’s Counterpoint musical general knowledge quiz earlier in the year.
It is another accolade for MQL players as Sarah, who plays for Ringers in the Warrington Quiz League, succeeds Karl Whelan of Wirral, the 2021 Brain of Britain, who himself had succeeded Graham Barker of Liverpool.
The recording is still available on BBC Sounds.
